Newsletter, December, 2008

Hello fellow club members! This is Sam Snow, founder, Midwest Carp Anglers Association. There is a lot of cold weather carp fishing going on. If you get a chance, go out and have some fun! Be safe and good luck! Sam.

CLUB NEWS

The organization is continuing to grow, this is an exciting time! Membership cards will be sent out when the annual dues are renewed. This will make the sponsor discount/member process work more smoothly.

I would like to say hello to new members Patrick and Trevor of the Joliet Junior College Angling Club (pictured above). We have talked about MCAA/JJCAC catch and release carp and carp / catfish events for next year. Keep an eye on the schedule! Patrick and Trevor can be reached at Bankfisher.com.

I would like to say hello to new member Lee Young (pictured at left). Lee manufactures and sells open end method feeders and also runs the Wisconsin Carp Championship. Lee can be reached at newfishing.blogspot.

I would like to say hello to new member Paul Pezalla. Paul owns Wacker Bait & Tackle, located in west suburban Chicago, and I believe his business was the first euro style carp specific tackle shop in the country. He also has a full line of match style equipment. Please contact info@wackerbait. Paul recently caught a 38 pound plus common carp from the Chicago River. That fish was pictured in the Chicago Sun Times.

I would like to say hello to the 17 other new members since the last newsletter, I would list their names but I am concerned about carpal tunnel syndrome, and I have to spod about twenty pounds of corn into a spot I am going to fish in the winter tournament.

Please check out the results page from the website for pictures and results from the Lily Cache Shootout and the Thanksgiving Tournament and the Windy City Carp League season finale run by Tracy Jourdan.

ONGOING EVENTS

The forty pounder is still out there! $100.00 Visa gift card for the first MCAA member who catches one that is witnessed by another member, then released alive. This contest runs through the end of the year (December 31, 2008). Please check the website for details.

USING THE WEBSITE

Members, please send in your personal best carp pictures, commons, mirrors, grass carp and koi. It does not matter when or where you caught it, they are all great to see. Also, if you have fishing tackle you are not using and maybe want to sell, list it on the sale page. There is no charge for this. Please check the website for details.
