Mike Olinger easily takes MCAA Hampton Dam Challenge on July 19, 2008

Mike Olinger netted 70% of the total carp caught and easily won the July 19, 2008 MCAA Hampton Dam Challenge with 7 fish weighing in at over 30 pounds. Mike also took home the "big fish of the day" money with a long 15.5 pound carp captured with just minutes remaining in the tournament.

Bill Bean weighed two fish totalling 15+ pounds to take second place honors, and Cory Bohmann's 6.5 pound carp was enough for a bronze medal.

Results--MCAA Lake Storey Spring Challenge - May 17, 2008
The weather was absolutely beautiful at scenic Lake Storey in Galesburg, Illinois on May 17th for the 1st Annual MCAA Lake Storey Spring Challenge. The carp, on the other hand, were somewhat finicky as only five fish were caught over the course of the eight-hour day. New member Jace Bowley took home both first and second place with fish weighing in at 20 pounds, 8 ounces (personal best) and 11 pounds, 9 ounces. Cory Bohmann won third place honors with a 7 pound 10 ounce carp caught within minutes of the closing gun. Cory also caught a 6 pound, 10 ounce fish, and Sam Snow rounded out the catch-board with a 7 pound carp. Click here for more information and photos from the event.

MCAA Summer Challenge 2008 - May 5, 2008 through September 1, 2008

This is a four category big fish tournament for MCAA members that will take place from May 5, 2008 through September 1, 2008:

The heaviest common carp caught by an MCAA member through September 1, 2008 will win the angler a $100.00 Visa gift card.

The heaviest grass carp caught by an MCAA member through September 1, 2008 will win the angler a $100.00 Visa gift card.

The heaviest mirror carp caught by an MCAA member through September 1, 2008 will win the angler a $100.00 Visa gift card.

The heaviest koi caught by an MCAA member through September 1, 2008 will win the angler a $100.00 Visa gift card.

MCAA "Hawg" Challenge 2008 - April 1, 2008 until big carp are caught

Are the big pigs calling you? Then MCAA's "Hawg" Challenge 2008 is your ticket to "hawg" heaven! The first 30# carp caught will win a $50.00 Visa gift card. The first 40# carp caught will win a $100.00 Visa gift card. The venue can be any river or lake that has public access. Only common and mirror carp are eligible. The carp must be released alive or it does not count. You must be an MCAA member to participate. The capture must be witnessed by another MCAA member. A picture of the carp with the person that caught it and a picture of the witness must be submitted along with the date, time and location. Newsflash!--A 30+ pounder has been caught. Congratulations to Howard Armstrong for his 37 pound, eight ounce carp caught at Lake Storey in Galesburg, Illinois on April 30, 2007. Howard wins the $50 gift card. Click here for a photo of Howard and his prize winner!
