1st Annual MCAA Ravens Club Challenge

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008 - 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

"That's why it's called fishing, not catching." That often-used quotation well summarized the February 23, 2008 MCAA Ravens Club Challenge, although the total weight of captured carp eclipsed the previous year's total weight by over 1100%. The weather was great for February and the Fishing Gear Flea Market provided some nice buys for participants, but the bite was a bit slow.

Sixty-two pounds of carp were weighed and released during the 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. event. With a little luck, a 12 pounder that hook-pulled at the shoreline and several wily carp that ran but weren't caught would have added to the final results. With a total weight catch of 33+ pounds, Frank Rink won the tournament, followed by second place medalist Jim Sugihara (11+ lbs.) and third place winner Mike Olinger (7+ lbs.). Thanks to all who came to the event.
